MUNA Knows a Place and Blesses it with a Song

MUNA is an incredible live act.  They sound just as good, if not better, live than on their studio tracks.  There’s already loads of fan produced and pro-shot concert footage of them on YouTube, but the piece below, produced in Austin by WFUV / SXSW and featuring makeup-free faces and close-ups, made me appreciate their chemistry and naturalness as a band.

For their third activation, I propose a playful take on their song, “I Know A Place.”  Highlighting their origins as a Los Angeles band, and also acknowledging their interest in style and music icons (based on their Tumblr), I think it’d be fun to do a photo essay of their favorite digs and meaningful places in and around Los Angeles, including places they go for style, music and visual inspiration

In short, MUNA takes us around town to the places that occupy special meaning for them as artists and as friends.  (For example, maybe they really dig the Echoplex, Amoeba Records, a specific taco truck or vintage clothing store.)

This should primarily manifest as a photo essay with captions, but could include an “impromptu” acoustic set, including at least one song off of About U, at a live location.  It could be shot multi-camera in one take.  This could build excitement around their album release, as well as tribute Los Angeles.  Amoeba Records is a possible venue, as they host bands for live performances all the time.  Fans listen from the aisles.
